Calling all Khans: Shah Rukh says it 'might not be a problem' to do a film with Aamir and Salman

In June this year, a rumour about the three Khans got us very excited. It was reported that Sajid Nadiadwala was planning a film with Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. All three Khans in one film!

Aamir and Salman have acted in films together, as have Shah Rukh and Salman, but all three haven't been seen together in one film ever. The idea was enough to make everyone from fans to trade analysts quiver with delighted anticipation. Sadly, that bubble burst quickly enough: Nadiadwala went on record saying that nothing had been finalised.

The seed, however, had been planted. Could a film like this actually come to pass, even if it was in the not-so-distant future? When an interviewer asked Salman about it in this The Times of India report, he said, "We would love to do a film together. Today they (producers) can afford to make a film with one Khan. But no one can afford to do a film taking three of us."

The optimist will notice Salman saying that the industry's three shiniest stars have clearly let bygones be bygones. The pessimist will notice the minor detail of how much money each of them charges.

And yet, before you give up the idea completely, in a recent interview, Shah Rukh also said that a film with the three Khans was not in the realms of impossibility?

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Shah Rukh was asked about choreographer and director Farah Khan's comment, "Even god can't bring the them together, so I am not even attempting that."

Shah Rukh's response: "I think it’s difficult to do a three-hero film, especially when all the three heroes are leading mainstream actors. But, I feel, it might not be a problem. All three of us are humble enough to understand that we are doing a film [together]. We have to choose a film in which all three of us are equal. We should do [a film like] Ghostbusters. That film has equal roles for all the three heroes."

Shah Rukh also went so far as to provide a solution to the problem of raising the money to make a film and pay the Khans: a co-production by the Khans in question.

"But someone has to write an interesting script that we like," he said.

Bollywood scriptwriters, we hope you're taking note.
