Guru Purnima Today: Know what is a teacher called in every religion
Today (July 31, 2015) is Guru Purnima. The festival of Guru Purnima is celebrated with much joy in Hindu religion. The glory of teachers is not just mentioned in Hindu religion, but also in other religions.
People with other religions too respect their teachers and treat them as their gods.
Lets see, what GURUS are called in different religions :
Hindu Religion
In this religion, the teachers are called by various names. Some are called ‘Sant’ and some ‘Mahatma’. They are also called as ‘Guruji’ who saying in not denied by anyone.
Sikh Religion
There are 100 gurus in Sikhism that are considered to be Gods. The 10 out of these 11 gurus are - Nanak Dev Ji, Angad Dev, Amar Das, Ram Dass, Arjundev, Hargovind, Harray, Teg Bahadur and Govind singh. The 11th guru is Guru Granth Saheb.
Christianity
The guru of Christianity is priest. People call them as ‘Father’.
Muslim Religion
The Ulemao in other words are knows as teachers.
Buddhism
Like Hinduism, in Buddhism too, teachers are considered to be Gods. Buddhists call them as Lama.
